The Founders

  • JANE BARMORE

Jane was born and raised in the busy world of California's Silicon Valley. Growing up, she spent afternoons after school watching various PBS cooking shows, primarily Julia Child and Jacques Pepin, which sparked her passion for food and food culture. This would later lead her to pursue a career in hospitality.

Jane moved to Portland in 2016 and has been exploring the region while settling into her community. During the pandemic lockdown, she started researching and cooking Filipino food to find solace. Today, she continues to work in hospitality while pursuing her passion projects, all of which endeavor to support and further amplify Filipino voices in the American food world.

  • NORI DE VEGA

The youngest in her family, Nori was born in Manila, Philippines, and while in grade school, her family moved to the States. Living in the US during the school years and spending summer breaks and sometimes winter breaks in Manila connected Nori to the American palate while being strongly tethered to the flavors of the Philippines.

“If there’s something which you should never be ungenerous, it’s food,” is a translated saying that her mother would say. Love language, celebration, affection, bonding— food has always meant these things to the De Vega family. Not being able to travel nor entertain through her cooking during the pandemic in addition to the tumultuous events and socioeconomic times catapulted Nori’s focus to community advocacy and support of local independent restaurants. This ultimately led her to connecting with those who share the passion to share and create space for Filipino food and culture in America.

  • TRICIA SAN MATEO

Born in Makati, Manila and later raised in the Bay Area, Tricia has lived and worked in various cities in the US. Her work as a marketing executve with various high profile companies allowed her to travel and experience different cultures. All of this has influenced her view on the world and her palate.

During the pandemic, Tricia dove in to learn how to make dishes she missed from her childhood and her travels that led her to build roots in Portland, building a community with people that share the same passion.
